Walmart to offer Angi services on its website
Walmart is expanding home services through a new partnership with Angi, the handyman service site for more than 150 common home projects such as painting, floor installation or furniture assembly.
Walmart said when customers shop in-store or online, they’ll be able to also book an Angi representative for a home project. Walmart had a similar service with Handy that it began using in 2018. Walmart said Monday (Jan. 31) that Angi, not Handy, will become its home services partner. This will allow Walmart to link its customers to Angi’s network of more than 250,000 providers. Handy will no longer have its brand showcased on Walmart’s website.
Walmart customers will be able to book Angi’s services online and in-store alongside any eligible item or from Angi’s landing page at Walmart.com, which goes live in mid-February. After purchase, Angi will reach out to coordinate the booking. For larger services, a project advisor provides the customer with a custom quote, finds the right person and handles the work to make sure the project is successful.
“We could not be more excited to launch Angi with Walmart, a leading global retailer, as our first retail integration,” Angi CEO Oisin Hanrahan said, “Since the start of the pandemic, the home is in focus and people across the U.S. are doing more home improvement, maintenance and repair work and they are often turning to Walmart to find the tools and materials needed to start those projects,” he said.
Prices start at $49 for furniture assembly and $79 for TV mounting, with Angi guaranteeing the work. Angi has a broad footprint with a network of more than 250,000 people across 500 tasks in nearly every zip code.
