The board of directors for Baldwin & Shell Construction Co. has named Bobby Gosser as president and CEO of the company, effective Jan. 1, 2022. Former President and CEO Scott Copas retired and will join his wife’s design company as COO.

Gosser’s board appointment, from president of the Central Arkansas Division to president and CEO, has been part of the company’s succession plan for several years.

“I’ve felt for a long time that Bobby’s career path within the company has been pointing to this destination. It’s the right time, and his character, leadership skills, and experience will serve the next generation of our company very well,” said Patrick Tenney, executive board member, and company treasurer.

Gosser began his 35-year career with Baldwin & Shell when the late Bob Shell recruited Gosser away from the nationally-based Pickens-Bond Construction Co. Gosser worked in various capacities in the company, including estimator, project coordinator, project manager, division manager, vice president, division president, and president-elect.

Gosser managed the Construction Services Division, which became a significant portion of the company’s portfolio of customers and company growth. In 2013, Gosser managed the company’s strategic plan, which was the catalyst to the company taking on new growth, and in 2014 was promoted to president of the Central Arkansas Division. Under his leadership, the division quickly became the largest division in the company attributing to the record growth in 2018 to over $300 million.

“I am prepared and excited to work alongside the company’s board of directors while continuing to provide top-quality, cost-effective construction projects for current and future customers,” Gosser said.

Gosser earned his bachelor’s degree in business from Ouachita Baptist University in 1983 and his bachelor’s degree in construction management from Northeast Louisiana University at Monroe in 1985.

Baldwin & Shell celebrates 75 years in business in 2022. The company is a general contractor and construction manager for both small and large projects throughout the Mid-South.
