If you had $1 million to give, what would you support? I would create a scholarship fund for employee family education. Knowledge is power and being able to help the team achieve their goals would be amazing.
What’s the most interesting thing about you that isn’t on your resume? Probably the golfer part. It has been amazing to me how much of it transfers into the business world.
What keeps you up at night or worries you the most? People. I love my job and my team. I worry about the things we need to stop doing, the things we should start doing and the things I haven’t thought about yet.
In your company/industry, what are the main differences between pre- and post-COVID-19? Flexible/remote work continues to be the biggest change and one that will likely be a part of the workforce forever.
If you weren’t in your current profession, what would you be doing? Professional golfer. I used to be one, and if I didn’t stop I would be still doing that. So mediocre professional golfer.
What is the most used app on your phone? The mail app. Too much.
In one sentence, can you express what the most important thing about being a leader is? Trust your team and work toward having them always trusting you.
What’s the most recent book you read? “The Hard Thing About Hard Things” by Ben Horowitz. Read it for the fifth time.
What is the best business advice you have ever received? Trust your instincts. A lot of things will be put in your way to try to distract you, but your instincts are usually right.
What is one thing you would change about your company if you could today? Communication. I know it’s an age-old issue, but communication continues to be a challenge especially in this world of remote work.
