Alec Farmer named to E.C. Barton and Company board
Alec Farmer was named Thursday (Dec. 17) as a newly elected member of the E.C. Barton and Company board of directors. The board is responsible for providing strategic counsel and guidance for the future of the company.
“I am proud to announce the newest member to the E.C. Barton and Company board of directors,” said Niel Crowson, Chairman of the Board. “Alec Farmer brings a wealth of business knowledge and will be a valuable resource to our board and management team.”
E.C. Barton and Company is a building materials retailer headquartered in Jonesboro with a national presence.
Farmer brings over 30 years of business experience and an extensive background serving on both local and state boards. He has served as president of Farmer Enterprises, Inc. since 1991 and manager of Alec Farmer Farms, LLC, since 1988. Farmer currently serves the state of Arkansas as a State Highway Commissioner, a title he has held since 2015.
Farmer has also served as a board member for numerous professional and community organizations, including his current appointments as a board member of Childress Gin & Elevator Co. and the Craighead County Conservation District. An Arkansas State University and University of Arkansas at Little Rock alum, Farmer has been a licensed attorney in the state of Arkansas since 1991. He is married to Carole Farmer, and together they have four daughters.

The 2021 Board of Directors is comprised of Niel Crowson, chairman; Henry Torres, vice chairman; Willis Tyler; secretary/treasurer; Mark Biggers; Mark Belk; Blake Barber; Travis Laurence; and Allen Devereux.
