Filing period opens for vacated House District 36 seat
The filing period for the special primary election for the Arkansas House seat vacated by Rep. Charles Blake, D-Little Rock, is open. Blake resigned his seat to take a position as chief of staff to Little Rock Mayor Frank Scott, Jr.
The filing period closes June 7, Friday at 12:00 p.m.
Democratic candidates for the seat can file at the William A. Gwatney Democratic Headquarters at 1300 W. Capitol Avenue in Little Rock. Republican candidates can file at the Rockefeller Republican Center at 1201 W. 6th Street in Little Rock.
Democrats have listed their filing fee as $1,500; Republicans have listed their filing fee as $3,000.
Because Rep. Charles Blake resigned his seat during his term, the filing fee has been reduced from $3,000 to $1,500.
