Walmart.com adds curated Moosejaw digital store to e-commerce site
Walmart continues to expand the inventory for its online business, now offering curated outdoor specialty gear from Moosejaw on its e-commerce site. Walmart said Monday (Aug. 27) the Premium Outdoor Store features specialty apparel and gear selected by Eoin Comerford, CEO of Moosejaw who also acts as general manager of outdoor for Walmart U.S. e-commerce.
The site debuted Monday and features brands such as Eddie Bauer, Craghoppers, Deuter and Wolfskin along with branded Moosejaw items. Comerford said in a news release the site seeks to offer the very best outdoor items and still give shoppers a good experience.
This is the first time Walmart has created an online store on its flagship site curated by one of its acquired specialty retailers. Comerford said the partnership with Walmart has been great for his startup. It has enabled two-day free shipping on orders over $49 in addition to allowing the company to invest in technology improvement to enhance its site and store experiences. That’s resulted in a 50% increase in redemption rate.
“The bottom line is we’re having a ton of fun being a part of the Walmart family, and together we’re working to not only improve the experience for our current customers, but to also bring our Moosejaw Madness [and our awesome outdoor gear] to exponentially more customers,” Comerford said in the release.
Comerford said they chose to name the online store Premium Outdoor and not Moosejaw because they expect to add inventory which may not be carried by Moosejaw on its own site or in its stores. He said the inventory on the new site will complement the camping items sold directly by Walmart.
