Tyler Gill took on a fresh challenge this summer, leading an inaugural team for C.A. Fortune Sales & Marketing that will serve more than 5,000 Walmart retail units nationwide.
Gill was hired as the first Walmart Team Leader for the boutique sales and marketing firm, which focuses largely on natural, specialty, organic and lifestyle brands.
The company is 1/100 the size of the company for which Gill worked for the past 12 years, Acosta Sales & Marketing, he said.
“This is a great opportunity for me to build a team from the ground up, as they’ve never had a dedicated team in Northwest Arkansas,” Gill said.
Gill graduated from the University of Arkansas in 2006, earning degrees in both financial management and marketing. During college, he worked at a bank and had a retail marketing internship at Tyson Foods.
Acosta was Gill’s first job after college, and he held several vice president roles there. He spent one year in Jacksonville, Fla., for the company and won multiple levels of the Acosta Chairman Award.
He also earned an MBA from John Brown University.
Gill said one of his most meaningful life accomplishments is the Cyr Lawson Award, bestowed in 2014 for his efforts raising funds and awareness for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. He’s part of the organization’s state leadership board. The aim is “adding tomorrows,” he said.
“It puts a lot of things in perspective in terms of what we think we struggle with and what bad days are,” he said.
Gill is also active with the UA Dean’s Alumni Advisory Council. His other interests are following events for his two children and Razorback sports.
