Marc Yount was one of the first employees at Field Agent, a crowdsource data collection company serving the retail industry. The 2 million users who have downloaded the company’s app are the agents who collect its data.
Field Agent distributes the information to its 500 clients, which are retailers and consumer packaged goods companies, such as Procter & Gamble and Hershey’s.
“Anyone can collect that information,” Yount said, adding it might include pictures, pricing and customer service audits at stores.
Yount manages all sales and operations of Field Agent’s U.S. business and oversees 55 employees. The company operates in eight countries and has a team of 75 U.S. employees, with the majority at the Fayetteville headquarters.
His career highlight was when Field Agent received an initial investment of $2.5 million from a Kansas City, Mo., private equity firm in 2013. That led the company to change its structure, become amplified and grow. And at 29, Yount was promoted to COO and became a key board adviser.
Before he helped launch Field Agent in 2010, the Piggott native worked for NorthStar Partnering Group in sales and marketing for Walmart vendors, managing nationwide retail events and projects for the Bentonville-based retailer. He also served as a national account manager selling lawn and garden supplies to Walmart.
“2005 was a big year for me,” Yount said. He got engaged and married, graduated with a bachelor’s degree in marketing, went on a mission trip to India and started at NorthStar.
Yount serves as a community group leader and mentor for young engaged couples at Fellowship Bible Church in Fayetteville and is a board member for financial education and coaching organization Freedom5:one Ministries in Fayetteville.
