Arkansas Municipal League selects Mark Hayes as executive director
Following the recent death of longtime Arkansas Municipal League executive director Don Zimmerman, the city advocacy group has selected Mark Hayes to lead the organization.
Hayes has served as General Legal Counsel for the organization and has been with AML since 1989.
Zimmerman died in late June after a battle with cancer. He had served as executive director since 1974.
Arkansas Municipal League officials said the decision to hire Hayes for the top position was made Wednesday (Aug. 22) at the group’s annual planning meeting.
“We are confident Mark’s leadership and expertise are the exact skills needed to ensure the Arkansas Municipal League continues to remain one of the strongest and most robust state leagues in the country,” said AML President North Little Rock Mayor Joe Smith.
The Arkansas Municipal League is a service and advocacy organization for the municipalities of Arkansas. It offers programs and services to the 500 cities and towns in the state and was created in 1934 to assist cities with information and representation in state and federal public affairs.
