Little Rock-based nonprofit Arkansas State Employees Association announced Tuesday (Nov. 7) the appointment of assistant executive director John Bridges to interim executive director. Bridges will temporarily fill the role previously held by Danny James, who is retiring.

The ASEA advocates on behalf of Arkansas state employees by meeting with Gov. Asa Hutchinson, legislators and other key personnel.

“I look forward to continuing to serve this great state and its most precious resources, state employees,” Bridges said in a statement.

Bridges has more than 10 years of experience working in the nonprofit and government sector. He’s chair of the Arkansas Workforce Retention Taskforce, serves on the audit committee for Arkansas Employees Federal Credit Union, is COO of Arkansas State Employees Benefit Advisors (ARSEBA), president of State Employees Benefit Corp. (SEBCO), and is on the board for Care for Animals. (ARSEBA and SEBCO are subsidiaries of ASEA).

Bridges graduated from the University of Arkansas with a degree in business administration.
