Bentonville to host 2017 Outdoor Blogger Summit
Bentonville will host the 2017 Outdoor Blogger Summit Oct. 27-29, according to the city’s tourism bureau, Visit Bentonville.
The annual event was founded in 2015 and is designed to help outdoor brands and journalists learn best practices in digital publishing. Featured speakers, according to a press release from Visit Bentonville, include Stephen Regenold, editor of Gear Junkie; Jen Altschul, producer of Dirtbag Diaries; and Kristin Hostette, former editor of Backpacker Magazine. Discussion topics include tips for increasing page views, advancing podcasts and landing freelance opportunities at “major publications.”
Visit Bentonville expects more than 100 attendees, with media interest in bicycling, fishing, hunting and other outdoor leisure activities.
“Our city is such a cool place to host an event like this. Hike, bike, run — you name it — Bentonville is a great place to be outdoors. Come see for yourself and write about it,” Missy Penor, communications director of Visit Bentonville, said in the release.
Bentonville trails are recognized as a silver-level ride center by the International Mountain Biking Association. In 2016, Bentonville hosted The IMBA World Summit, and Bentonville in 2018 will host IMBA Uprising Ladies Summit, NICA (National Intercollegiate Cycling Association) Directors Conference, Liv/Giant Cycling Camp, Outerbike, and Oz Trails Off Road.
“The partnership to host the Outdoor Bloggers will allow us to connect new technology to bring visitors to Bentonville, Northwest Arkansas and Arkansas,” Visit Bentonville CEO Kalene Griffith said in the release.
The Outdoor Blogger Summit previously was hosted in Jackson Hole, Wyo., but “has found a new home in the Ozark Mountains,” according to Visit Bentonville.
