Cobb-Vantress invests in Russian poultry sector
Tyson Foods subsidiary Cobb-Vantress of Siloam Springs announced this week it has upped its stake in Broiler Budeshego, a large supplier of breeding stock for the Russian broiler meat industry. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The deal was completed by the company’s distributor Cobb Germany. Cobb said it sells more than 7 million chicks annually to the Russian poultry meat industry. Cobb has owned a smaller stake in Broiler Budeshego since 2014 and was able to increase its investment by acquiring the share from Samuel Lipman, an investor in the industry.
“With the support of Cobb Germany, I’m confident that Broiler Budeshego will continue to thrive in the market and build on the exceptional growth and performance they have proudly achieved,” Mark Sams, general manager of Cobb Europe, said in a statement. “Cobb Europe will continue to fully support the business as our distributor going forward.”
Cobb also said it will begin to supply parent stock to the Prioskolie group as it takes over the grandparent production facilities in a separate deal.
Cobb said the two deals will further enhance its ability to support Russians customers and continue to grow market share in that country.
