Ed Clifford and Karen Parker have been appointed to the advisory board of the Fayetteville regional campus of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS). Their three-year terms begin July 1.

Clifford, CEO of the Jones Trust of Springdale, which includes the Jones Center for Families and Center for Nonprofits, is a member of several volunteer boards including the Arkansas Arts Council and Northwest Arkansas Council. He also chairs the Northwest Arkansas Land Trust.

Parker retired from Wal-Mart Stores in 2016, where she was a senior manager for the Walmart Foundation.

“We’re so thankful to have the dedication and advice of such wise community members as we grow the UAMS mission and advance academic medicine in northwest Arkansas,” associate vice chancellor Pearl McElfish said in a statement.

UAMS officials also said Dan Ferritor will take over as board chair as Ann Rosso’s term ends and she resumes life membership on the board.
