Tyson Foods Inc., the largest poultry company in the world, has entrusted 30-year-old Greg Bohannon to lead its original processing plant.

Bohannon is manager of Randall Road Cornish Plant in Springdale, a plant built in 1958. He’s been the manager there for two years.

The Randall Road plant produces all of the Cornish hens sold by Tyson Foods, and it produces 66 percent of all Cornish hens sold in the United States.

Bohannon grew up on a chicken farm in Elm Springs. Two days after graduating with a bachelor’s degree in agricultural business from Arkansas Tech University, he went to work for Tyson Foods.

Today, Bohannon oversees all of the production at the plant. He also has about 500 people under his leadership.

“I love working with people,” Bohannon said. “I really enjoy the type of people that work in production.”

At the 2002 Tyson shareholders meeting, the Randall Road Cornish Plant was honored for having achieved 2 million consecutive work hours without a lost work day due to an accident.

Bohannon is co-chairman of the March of Dimes Golf Committee. He also fishes professionally on the side, participating in the Wal-Mart EverStart series and Central Pro-Am events. His fishing highlight came when he and a friend won a $25,000 bass boat.
