In the Aug. 29 issue of the Northwest Arkansas Business Journal, Whispers caught up with Rogers native Rod Fuller, a drag racer on the National Hot Rod Association circuit since 1994, about a proposed dragstrip development west of Tontitown. Now, Fuller’s longtime friend, Chad Campbell of Prairie Creek, revealed more details about the project dubbed Northwest Arkansas Motorplex.

Campbell and Fuller worked together to develop plans for the dragstrip nearly 10 years ago. Campbell has several posters of the facility as it was planned to look when it was first announced more than five years ago.

Phase one called for a $50 million NHRA dragstrip.

Other phases included areas for shopping, fishing and a championship golf course. Total projected cost was between $200 million and $250 million.

Will it be built?

“It will happen in God’s time, not in Chad’s or Rod’s time,” Campbell says.
