Home Sales Surge, Sales Price Up In May

About 14 percent more homes were sold in Arkansas in May compared to the same month in 2015, according to Arkansas Realtors Association. And, average sales price increased more than 3 percent in the month compared to May last year.

In Arkansas, 3,344 homes were sold in May, which is up from 2,924 in the same month last year. Average sales price was $171,905, compared to $166,201.

In Benton County, the number of homes sold increased more than 15 percent to 582 homes, from 504. The price, which was the highest of any Arkansas county in May, increased more than 12 percent to $221,693, from $197,233.

Washington County saw an increase of 13 percent to 330 homes, from 292. Price increased 8 percent to $204,250, from $189,094.

The number of homes sold in Sebastian County jumped nearly 21 percent to 163, from 135. The price also increased nearly 21 percent to $153,939, from $127,559.

Home sales in Carroll County fell nearly 15 percent to 23, from 27. But, average sales price soared more than 61 percent to $197,826, from $122,278.

Sales in Crawford County increased nearly 31 percent to 77, from 59. Price was up almost 4 percent to $126,581, from $122,278.

In Madison County, sales increased about 8 percent to 14, from 13. Price rose more than 16 percent to $135,855, from $116,877.

Pulaski County, with the most homes sold of any county statewide, saw an increase in sales of more than 15 percent to 600, from 520. Price dipped nearly 3 percent to $194,437, from $199,908.
