A bi-weekly, independently owned business journal, NWABJ has an opening for a hard-working, business-savvy assistant editor/reporter with good writing, networking and proofing skills. Flexibility and a positive attitude are a must.
Northwest Arkansas is one of the most dynamic economic regions in the country, with a population of 500,000 people. The area is home to Fortune 500 companies such as Wal-Mart Stores Inc., Tyson Foods Inc. and J.B. Hunt Transport Services Inc., as well as a growing tech-startup and entrepreneurial community. Business is booming in Northwest Arkansas.
Applicants should be driven, a self-starter and comfortable working as part of a team. Ideal candidates should have experience as a reporter with a keen understanding of what fellow business leaders want to read.
Basic comprehension of financial statements, ability to spot economic trends and a stout awareness of what makes good business-to-business news are required traits. The reporter is responsible for developing, researching, writing, reporting and editing stories. Must generate story ideas and source contacts, and enterprise stories.
