What got you pointed toward your current career? In April 2006, then-Rep. John Boozman convened a meeting to discuss the prospect of starting a world trade center as part of the UA, to serve the entire state and help Arkansas companies and agriculture producers increase exports and fill empty ocean containers returning to foreign countries. Knowing my background in transportation, including 12 years in imports/exports, UA Chancellor John White appointed me to spearhead the project.

What aspects of your work do you find the most rewarding? Hosting more than 45 ambassadors, consul generals and country presidents to promote commercial diplomacy for Arkansas.

What one word best describes you? Persevering.

Last book you read? ‘Killing Patton,’ by Bill O’Reilly.

What do you consider the greatest achievement of your career? Having the opportunity to establish three startup organizations in both the private and public sectors and experience successful outcomes.

What’s something interesting about you that people would be surprised to learn?
I worked as a page in 1964 for Rep. Jim Trimble and was on the House floor when the Civil Rights Bill passed in July that year. I also witnessed Ken Venturi win the U.S Open at Congressional Country Club that summer.
