J.B. Hunt taps former Microsoft exec as its chief information officer

J.B. Hunt Transport Services Inc. hired Stuart Scott as its new chief information officer. He follows Kay Lewis who retired Dec. 31 after nearly three decades with the logistics company.

Scott hails from Temper Sealy International where he worked as CIO since 2009. The company said Lewis will act as an advisor for Scott during the transition.

While at Temper Sealy, Scott led the mattress maker’s global business processes and information technology groups. He previously served as chief operating officer at Taylor, Bean & Whitaker Mortgage Corp. Before that Scott spent two years as the CIO at Microsoft Corp. before he was reportedly fired in 2007 for violating a company policy. Microsoft never provided details behind his dismissal.

Scott also worked in several senior IT roles at General Electric over a 17-year period. He has a master’s degree in computer engineering from the University of Louisville and an master’s degree in business administration from Vanderbilt University.
