Dr. Dave Stevens, formerly the director of campus involvement at the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith, has been promoted to dean of students at the university.

In his new position, Stevens will continue to oversee the Student Activities Office and will also serve as the chief student conduct officer for the university. Additionally, Stevens will collaborate with offices across campus to provide counseling and support for students in crisis.

Stevens began at UAFS in 2006 as an advisor for the Western Arkansas Technical Center before being promoted to the coordinator of WATC in 2009. In spring 2012, Stevens was named the director of campus involvement.

“This has been a very humbling experience for me,” Stevens said. “I consider myself to be very fortunate to work at such a great university with so many talented colleagues and wonderful students. I believe that UAFS has a bright future, and I’m excited to be a part of it.”

Stevens holds a bachelor’s degree in history and political science and a master’s degree in college student personnel from Arkansas Tech University, and recently earned a doctorate of education in human resource and adult education from the University of Arkansas.
