Little Rock Mayor elected to National League of Cities leadership
The National League of Cities (NLC) recently named its leadership at the annual Congress of Cities and Exposition in Nashville, Tenn. Little Rock Mayor and Arkansas Municipal League Immediate Past President Mark Stodola was elected second vice president.
To date, Mayor Stodola is the first municipal official from Arkansas to be elected to NLC’s Leadership. As second vice president, Mayor Stodola holds one of the top three officer positions within the National League of Cities. All officers are selected by nominating committee and are elected by NLC’s membership to one-year terms.
Little Rock Mayor Mark Stodola is immediate past president of the Arkansas Municipal League. He served as League second vice president in 2013-2014 and as District 1 vice president in 2007-2008. Prior to being elected a League officer, Mayor Stodola served on the League’s Executive Committee for seven years.
Stodola has served on NLC’s Governance and Education Reform Task Forces; the Energy, Environment and Natural Resources (EENR) policy committee from 2007-2012; the EENR Steering Committee in 2013; as liaison to the NLC Institute on Youth, Education and Families; and on the NLC Board of Directors from 2014 until his being named second vice president.
The Arkansas Municipal League is a service and advocacy organization for the municipalities of Arkansas. The League has a voluntary membership comprised of 500 cities and towns in the state and was created in 1934 to assist cities with information and representation in the public affairs of our state and nation.
