UAs Poultry Science Center to Mark 20th Anniversary
Officials from Tyson Foods Inc., George’s Inc. and Simmons Foods will be a part of the festivities Oct. 6 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Center of Excellence for Poultry Science at the Univ. of Arkansas in Fayetteville.
Students will be treated to a free chicken fajita lunch supported by Tyson, Simmons and George’s. Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson will be the featured speaker.
John Tyson, the son of Don Tyson and grandson of company founder John W. Tyson, and Poultry Federation president Marvin Childers also will attend the event.
Other speakers include Archie Shaffer, UA interim Chancellor Dan Ferritor and UA board member David Pryor.
The day-long celebration will highlight the past, present and future of the CEPS, which includes the poultry science department, five scientists from USDA-Agriculture Research Service and associated faculty from several departments on the Fayetteville campus and from other campuses within the state.
