Centipede Co-creator Dona Bailey To Speak At Venture Center
I remember my days at Playful Quarters in my hometown of Batesville. There were several games I would spend my quarters on and one of those was Centipede by Atari. Those bugs just kept coming and it was hard to win.
Little did I know that one of the game developers was a female and Arkansas native Dona Bailey. Bailey was one of the first females in the business in the early 1980’s and if you have ever played that game, your life has intersected with her programming talent.
These days Bailey teaches at UALR, but this Tuesday, September 22, she will be presenting at the Venture Center’s monthly event Code•IT!
Bailey will discuss being a pioneer in the field of programming as a woman.
The event starts at 6 p.m. at the Venture Center. Admission is free, but the Venture Center would like everyone to register. Food and drinks will be provided.
As a reminder of the Centipede game, you can relive it here.
