Little Bird Systems, which specializes in ruggedized, embedded wireless technology, plans to release three products in the next year, with an ultimate goal to create a complete, rapid commercialization system for industrial Internet of Things (IoT) application development.

By the end of this quarter, LBS will release a product internally referred to as the parrot data recorder, a data monitor that can store information to be accessed later.

Next year, the company plans to launch during the second quarter a chicken-feed gauge, unique in its method of using the measurement of vibrations after shaking the feed tower to determine the feed level.

The monitor is about three times cheaper than other feed-level gauges, said Bryon Western, co-founder and CEO of LBS.

Because the system magnetically sticks to the feed tower, it is also easy to install and nonobtrusive, he said.

LBS also plans by the end of next year’s third quarter to launch a Hardware-Software Development Kit, which will be the first phase in the launch of the rapid commercialization system for IoT application development.

HSDK is a building-block system that offers rugged versions of sensor and communications modules that can fit together, allowing individuals without a background in electrical engineering to perform benchtop IIoT application development and testing.

Western said his company’s products fill a large gap in the industry by providing sensors that are less destructible, at a more affordable price.

LBS, founded in April 2012 and located at the Arkansas Research & Technology Park in Fayetteville, is now in its seed funding round, and is seeking investors.
