Frank Lloyd Wrights Bachman-Wilson House to Open Nov.11
Reconstruction of the Frank Lloyd Wright Bachman-Wilson House is in its final stages, and it will open to the public on the grounds of Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville on Nov. 11, the museum announced on Wednesday.
The scheduled opening date is on the fourth anniversary of the opening of Crystal Bridges.
Built in 1954 along the Millstone River in New Jersey, the home was threatened by repeated flooding at its original location, when Crystal Bridges acquired it in 2013.
The house was disassembled and transported to Bentonville in 2014, where it was reconstructed.
Architect Ron Shelby, CEO of Hight-Jackson Associates PA of Rogers, and master builder Bill Faber, owner of Bill Faber Construction of Bentonville, handled the reconstruction.
“We are excited to share this historic object that embodies our mission to celebrate the American spirit in a setting that unites art and nature,” Rod Bigelow, executive director of Crystal Bridges, said in a press release.
There is no admission fee to tour the property, and it will be open during the same hours as the museum’s art galleries.
“Our goal is to provide as much access as possible while being responsible stewards of the house,” Niki Stewart, chief engagement officer at Crystal Bridges said in the press release. “To that end, we will welcome visitors to see the house on their own with general admission, or take a guided tour. Because of the intimate size of the house, we are requiring reservations to enter, while the grounds around the house will be accessible without a ticket.”
Beginning Nov. 2, tickets may be reserved online or by calling 479-657-2335.
Crystal Bridges’ members will have an opportunity to preview the house in advance of the public opening.
The Bachman-Wilson House is the only Frank Lloyd Wright work in Arkansas.
