American Tubing in Springdale Moving Toward $8M Expansion, 100 New Jobs
American Tubing Inc., a Springdale-based producer of copper assemblies for air conditioning and refrigeration, is planning an $8 million, 80,000-SF expansion that’s expected to generate as many as 100 new jobs starting at $14.82 an hour.
The company is in the process of buying 6.97 acres along Turnbow Avenue in the Springdale Industrial Park near its current location on Ford Avenue just east of Old Missouri Road. The development will come in two 40,000-SF phases, and will consist of $5.25 million for land and construction, and another $2.75 million in equipment. The total annual payroll for the new employees is expected to exceed $3 million.
The details are according to a July 29 email letter written by Scott Edmondson, director of business development at the Springdale Chamber of Commerce, to the Washington County Quorum Court.
On Tuesday, the quorum court endorsed American Tubing’s participation in the state’s Consolidated Incentive Act, under which local sales taxes are returned to the company as an enticement to invest. And on Aug. 4, the Springdale Planning Commission approved American Tubing’s large-scale development plans, prepared by Engineering Services Inc., for drainage, parking and to join lots 13, 14 and 15.
American Tubing president Chuck Lewis could not be reached for comment. It is unclear exactly when construction will begin.
According to Edmondson, the company currently employs 146 people. In addition to copper components, the company has fabrication capabilities in metals such as brass, cupronickel and aluminum.
The company has been in operation since 1976.
