Springdale Business Owner Lands Extra Role on Jurassic World
Have you seen the new “Jurassic World” flick? Considering its debut — the Universal film brought in a $524.1 million around the world, making it the highest-grossing global opening ever — chances are, you have.
Did you know there is a local connection? Springdale businessman James Smith, a founder and co-owner of furniture retailer James+James, has a very bit part in the control room scenes, most notably exiting an elevator with Vincent D’Onofrio.
“I’m certain it’s just a matter of time before my agent calls and I ditch this furniture thing,” Smith joked to Whispers.
Smith said he is a diehard fan of the Jurassic movies. When he heard the fourth film in the dinosaur franchise was being made, Smith had an idea that only a diehard would.
“I knew I had to do everything in my power to get in that movie,” he said, “even if just a fly on the wall.”
Smith said he spent a day on the production set last summer in New Orleans.
If you’re unfamiliar, Smith started his furniture business out of his garage in 2011. It’s now a million-dollar company.
That said, we’re not surprised he set out to do something, then did it.
