Roundtable: Tom Cotton, Dennis Milligan And Rep. Justin Harris Discussed
This week’s Talk Business & Politics roundtable featured Political Animals Club President Rex Nelson, KATV’s lead capitol reporter Janelle Lilley and TB&P columnist and contributor Michael Cook.
The discussion included an on-air and web extra conversation centered on three political controversies involving Sen. Tom Cotton, State Treasurer Dennis Milligan and Rep. Justin Harris, R-West Fork.
Cotton, who also appeared on the TV show this week, sparked a high-profile national debate regarding a letter he spearheaded to Iranian leaders. The letter warned Iran that U.S. Senators had reservations about early details they’ve learned regarding the Obama administration’s negotiations with Iran. What was the upside and the downside of the debate?
State Treasurer Dennis Milligan signed an agreement with GOP Attorney General Leslie Rutledge this week to settle his illegal hiring of a relative in his office. Does this mean the case is closed?
Rep. Justin Harris continues to dominate state Capitol headlines. His role in an adoption controversy has become a “distraction” according to some lawmakers. But GOP members of the House are standing by Harris, for now. Where does the Harris saga head next?
Rex Nelson also plugs the Tuesday, March 17 appearance of Speaker Jeremy Gillam, R-Judsonia, at the Central Arkansas Political Animals Club. Gillam will speak at 7 a.m. at the Little Rock Club at the top of the Region’s Bank building on Tuesday.
