A veteran restaurateur and a team of upstart beverage makers are betting on Springdale.

Miles James, longtime chef and owner at James at the Mill in Johnson, is opening MJ Pizzeria at 838 N. 48th St., in partnership with Macadoodle’s co-owner Tyler Austin.

Set to open in June, the fast-casual restaurant will feature wood-fired pizzas, organic greens, in-house pasta, and craft beer and cocktails. Open seven days a week, MJ will also have carryout and catering.

According to a post on the MJ Facebook page, a pizza can cook in as little as three minutes.

At 321 E. Emma Ave., Noble Crossing Cider House is set to open in June. Partners John Handley, Trey Holt and Leo Orpin are currently renovating the 4,347-SF structure, which once served as a hatchery for George’s Inc.

Storm Brewery LLC bought the property for $138,000 in June.

Noble Crossing touts itself as the state’s first cider house. According to published reports and posts on the cider house’s Facebook page, Noble Crossing hopes to benefit from its proximity to the Razorback Regional Greenway.
