Martha Londagin said there has been an increase recently in business starts in Northwest Arkansas.

Her organization is responding by providing helpful information to small business owners through an event Feb. 11 called the Arkansas Small Business Owners Legal Summit. It’s scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce, a sponsoring organization along with Arvest Bank of Fayetteville.

Londagin is the training and marketing coordinator for Little Rock-based Arkansas Small Business & Technology Development Center. The center is a network of seven offices around the state. Its Fayetteville office is an outreach program of the Sam M. Walton College of Business, and serves Benton, Washington, Carroll, Madison, Boone, Newton and Searcy counties.

Londagin said the seminar will provide information often requested by new business owners. Topics needed for continued growth of established small businesses will also be addressed.

The seminar will be led by a panel of five local attorneys: Alex Miller, Allen Mazzanti, Darren Gibbs, Robert Ost and Jack Butt.

“It’s the first event of its kind in Northwest Arkansas,” Londagin said. “The attorneys are top-notch, and this affords more than $1,000 in legal advice for small business owners, or others who are looking to start a small business in their retirement.”

The cost to register, which includes a free lunch, is $50 for the public and $30 for Fayetteville Chamber members. Discounts are also available for UA students, faculty and staff.

Pre-registration is required through the website sbtdc.uark.edu. Call 575-5148 for more information.
