Anchors Away

You may have heard about the shuffling anchor chairs in the local television market.

Angela Taylor, an evening news anchor and reporter for local ABC affiliate KHBS/KHOG-TV, Channels 40/29, said she is leaving the station to accept a job in Orlando, Florida, as evening news anchor at NBC affiliate WESH-TV, Channel 2. Both stations are owned by New York City-based Hearst Television Inc.

Taylor’s final day at 40/29 is Jan. 6, and she’ll begin in Orlando on Jan. 12. A Texas native, Taylor joined KHBS/KHOG —  the KHOG portion of the station is Northwest Arkansas and KHBS is Fort Smith — in June 2010 and co-anchored the news at 5, 6 and 10 p.m. with Craig Cannon.

Meanwhile, local NBC affiliate KNWA-TV announced recently that Laine Baker has made the permanent move to the KNWA evening news desk.

Baker was announced as the primetime news anchor for local FOX affiliate KFTA-TV, Channel 24, in April, but had been filling in at KNWA since October following the departure of evening news anchor Neile Jones.

Before joining KFTA, Baker spent four years as the weekday morning anchor for the 5 a.m. KNWA Today newscast.

KFTA and KNWA are sister stations, both owned by Nexstar Broadcasting Inc. of Irving, Texas.
