A new lighting outlet is coming to Northwest Arkansas.

Lighting IQ is set to open in a 5,500-SF location in the Ozark Center Point Shopping Center in Springdale in December. Lighting IQ, which specializes in lighting and decorative hardware, is a division of Oklahoma-based LifeStyles Stores Inc., Oklahoma’s largest distributor of residential lighting and ceiling fans with stores in Edmond and Tulsa.

Owner Gregg Tunison said the region represented just the right fit for his new store, which, unlike the locations in Oklahoma, will not sell furniture. Before deciding to move here, Tunison said he looked at population numbers, income statistics and housing starts and liked what he saw.

“Since it’s a new concept, we wanted to go into the best market first,” Tunison said, referring to the choice of Northwest Arkansas over competing locations.

The new store comes on the heels of closing down a 60,000-SF showroom in Dallas a year ago.

“We were looking to get into smaller markets,” Tunison said.
