Clinton Stumps For Arkansas Democrats In Boyhood Home
Jordan Bontke with our content partner, KATV News, reports:
Former President Bill Clinton joined fellow Democrats for a rally in front of hundreds at Hot Springs late Friday.
Congressional candidate James Lee Witt, gubernatorial candidate Mike Ross, and incumbent Senator Mark Pryor joined the 42nd President in his boyhood home at the Historic Farmer’s Market in Garland County.
Dozens of supporters started lining up around 2:00 p.m. but as is usually the case, the four politicians didn’t take the stage until after 6:30 p.m.
President Clinton mentioned that supporting the candidates isn’t the only reason he’s back in the Natural State.
“For one thing, I’m about to attend my 50th high school reunion,” said President Clinton.
Clinton shared a story about working with James Lee Witt during a natural disaster in the state. He said Mike Ross is the best man to make both parties work together as Governor, and he also had something to say about the attack ads claiming Mark Pryor votes with Obama 93% of the time.
“Every year in the Senate, (Pryor) is ranked 49th and 50th out of a hundred Senators, all those ad are false,” said Clinton.
Clinton was campaigning in his birthplace of Hope this weekend. Additional stops included North Little Rock, Pine Bluff, and Forrest City.
The Republican National Committee responded by saying they’re not threatened by Clinton’s tour around Arkansas this weekend.
“What is concerning is Senator Pryor’s support for President Obama. Senator Pryor has rubber-stamped Obama’s policies 93% of the time, not President Clinton,” said Republican National Committee Spokesman Fred Brown.
