Susan Duke Named NWA Athena Woman of the Year

Susan Duke was acknowledged for her philanthropic work Sept. 16, when she received the 2014 Athena Woman of the Year award at the annual Bentonville Bella Vista Chamber of Commerce Northwest Arkansas Business Women’s Conference.
The wife of former Wal-Mart Stores Inc. president and CEO Mike Duke, she said in her bio on the women’s conference website that “[she and her husband] believe that any prosperity comes as a gift with a purposeful calling and stewardship responsibilities. Providing for others is a privilege and a blessing.”
Duke was recognized for her work with the Samaritan Community Center, Loving Choices Pregnancy Center, Saving Grace and CASA of Northwest Arkansas.
The conference organizers hosted a reception in her honor at the Pinnacle Country Club, following the day-long conference.
