Arkansas sophomore running back Alex Collins has been named SEC Offensive Player of the Week, the Southeastern Conference announced on Monday (Sept. 15).

Collins rushed for a career-high 212 yards and two touchdowns, including an 84-yard touchdown run in Arkansas’ 49-28 win at Texas Tech on Sept. 13.

The Fort Lauderdale, Fla., native helped the Razorbacks gain 438 rushing yards against the Red Raiders, the second consecutive game Arkansas has rushed for 430-plus yards. His 212 rushing yards on 27 carries is the ninth-most in school history and the most since Darren McFadden rushed for an SEC record 321 yards against South Carolina in 2007.

Collins leads the SEC with 411 total rushing yards and ranks second in the league with five rushing touchdowns behind teammate Jonathan Williams, who has six rushing scores on the season.

The honor marks the first Razorback to win an SEC Player of the Week award this season and the first to earn SEC Offensive Player of the Week honors since wide receiver Cobi Hamilton earned co-SEC Offensive Player of the Week honors on Sept. 24, 2012.

It is the third career SEC weekly honor for Collins, who also earned SEC Freshman of the Week honors twice during the 2013 campaign.
