Cook: New Poll Encouraging For Democrats
A new statewide poll shows the Democratic candidates leading in two major races and tied up in another.
Southern Progress Fund, an organization created to elect more Democratic leaders in the South, commissioned the poll which was conducted last week. As I always state when partisan polls are released, take them with a grain of salt. These are just topline numbers as crosstabs for the poll were not released.
Here are the results for the three races they polled:
U.S. Senate
Mark Pryor 46%
Tom Cotton 42%
Nathan LaFrance 2%
Mark Swaney 2%
Don’t Know/Undecided 8%
Governor
Mike Ross 44%
Asa Hutchinson 44%
Joshua Drake 2%
Frank Gilbert 2%
Don’t Know/Undecided 8%
Attorney General
Leslie Rutledge 34%
Nate Steel 37%
Aaron Cash 5%
Don’t Know/Undecided 24%
Philip Petray of Answers Unlimited in Beebe, Arkansas, conducted the poll, which was conducted Sunday, September 7 – Tuesday, September 9. It surveyed 600 likely voters statewide and has a +/- 3.5% margin of error.
To review, according to this poll, the Governor’s race is a complete toss-up and Mark Pryor and Nate Steel are ahead against their respective GOP opponents. These numbers jibe closely with internal poll numbers I’ve recently seen on these particular races.
Election Day is a lifetime away politically, but these latest numbers are an encouraging trend for Arkansas Democrats.
