Washington Regional Eliminates 27 Jobs
Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville announced Monday it was eliminating 27 positions, a response to increased costs brought on by healthcare reform.
The job cuts are expected to affect between 15 and 20 employees, according to a news release.
The hospital has seen a drop of annual revenues of $8.75 million per year over the past two years.
“In the post-reform healthcare environment, things are obviously changing,” Washington Regional president and CEO Bill Bradley said in a prepared statement. “It requires the more disciplined, prudent management we have implemented, but also regrettably necessitates actions such as this. We do not make this decision lightly, but believe it protects Washington Regional’s future, which we believe remains bright. Nevertheless, that does not make it any easier on those affected, and we are committed to helping them through this change.”
All impacted employees will be offered outplacement services and other assistance.
