Opening Reception: An American in Venice: James McNeill Whistler and His Legacy
Come join us at the Fort Smith Regional Art Museum on October 2, 2014 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm for the opening reception of An American in Venice: James McNeill Whistler and His Legacy.
In 1879 American artist James McNeill Whistler arrived in Italy with a commission from the Fine Arts Society of London to create twelve etchings of Venice. Over the ensuing fourteen months the artist produced a body of prints that are among the most important of his career. This exhibit showcases these works, as well as the work of his followers who were practicing in Italy in the late-nineteenth and early-twentieth centuries.
RAM members get in free, and it's only $5.00 for all others. Refreshments will be provided! We hope to see you there!
