Cause for Paws, Taste of Crawford County, and Sippin’ on 6th Street

August invites the Fort Smith region to have a good time while supporting great causes with the annual Cause for Paws, LadyD's Birthday Concert, Taste of Crawford County, and the Clayton House's Sippin' on 6th Street. 
It's hard to go wrong with choices that may include beagles, birthdays and bourbon.

Cause for Paws
The Sebastian County Humane Society will host "Pawpurrazi: A Purrfect Pawty" on Aug. 1. The annual Cause for Paws event will feature dinner, drinks, pet fashion, auctions and more.

The party will be held at Immaculate Conception in Fort Smith. It will kick off at 6:30 p.m. with Happy Hour, followed by dinner and a doggy fashion show. The live auction will get underway at 8 p.m., with music and dancing starting at 8:15 p.m. Cause for Paws will end at 11 p.m.

Tickets are $50 individually or $500 for a table of 10. Glasses and coozies will be available to purchase for $10. Tickets may be purchased online or by calling 783-4395.

LadyD's Musical Birthday benefitting the CES
LadyD, aka Denise Messamore, will headline a concert benefitting the Fort Smith Children’s Emergency Shelter on Aug. 2. Hosted at Beef O'Brady's in Fort Smith, guests will enjoy live music and delicious food while supporting a great cause.

The concert will be held from 7 to 10 p.m., with Lady D and other local musicians performing.  All musical donations, tips, and sales of "Shelter from the Storm" CDs will benefit the Children's Emergency Shelter.

Admission to the concert is free. Beef O’Brady’s will also donate 20% of all patio and event-related sales to the shelter.

Taste of Crawford County
CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) will present the annual Taste of Crawford County on Aug. 5. The event will feature of dozens of restaurants, bakeries, caterers and other vendors who will treat guests to "A Culinary Delight from around the World."

Two "Taste" sessions will be held, with lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. Both will be held at Van Buren High School in the Commons Area.

Individual tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. Proceeds from the event will benefit CASA, as well as the Boys and Girls Clubs of Van Buren and Alma.

Sippin' on 6th Street Bourbon Tasting
The Clayton House in Fort Smith will host an old-fashioned gentlemen's evening with its "Sippin' on 6th Street" fundraiser on Aug. 9. The southern soiree will feature fine bourbon, food, and firearms and give guests a glimpse back into the social scene of the 1880s.

The evening will get underway at 7 p.m., with heavy hors d'oeuvres and bourbon tasting.  Visitors will also enjoy special musical entertainment, and a  live auction.
Guests will also have the opportunity to purchase tickets for the chance to win one of three guns in the exclusive firearms raffle. Prizes will include a Ruger 10-22 .22LR Rifle, a Henry lever action .22LR Rifle, and a  Ruger 2245 5 ½” Bulled Barrel Pistol. Tickets are $5 and may be purchased in advance.
