The former headquarters of the nonprofit Northwest Arkansas Children’s Shelter in Benton County will be offered for sale at a public auction at 10 a.m. July 19.

Paul Colvin with Block Realty & Auction Co. of Springdale has been contracted to auction off the property at 7702 S.W. Regional Airport Blvd. in Bentonville.

Up for bid are five buildings totaling 15,220 SF on 6.11 acres.

The buildings, ranging in size from 5,560 SF to 1,800 SF, are connected with a covered walkway.

Opening bid for the auction will start at $75,000 and the auction will be held on site.

Auction proceeds will be given to the NWA Children’s Shelter, which moved to its current location at 14100 Vaughn Road on April25, 2011. The new campus, about 2.5 miles west of the old location, is on 81 acres with more than 65,500 SF of space.

“We increased our residential capacity by 50 percent the day we moved in, going from 32 beds to 48 beds,” said Greg Russell, director of marketing at the shelter.
