The Care Foundation announced a grant of $493,000 to the Downtown Springdale Alliance to jumpstart construction of Walter Turnbow Park and other amenities alongside the Razorback Regional Greenway where it crosses through downtown Springdale.

Anita Scism, president and CEO of the foundation, made the announcement at a May 23 groundbreaking at Shiloh Square on Emma Avenue. In addition to the announcement by Scism, Tyson Foods Inc. consultant and former top executive Archie Schaeffer said the poultry giant plans to move some of its employees to downtown, where Tyson was founded and where it still owns over five acres along Emma and Meadow avenues.

Tyson also donated $100,000 to the demolition of two buildings where Turnbow Park will be located. Turnbow, a longtime Springdale businessman, is a former member of the board of directors for Beaver Water District, Springdale Water and Sewer Commission, Springdale Public Schools and the Arkansas Department of Education.
