Start-ups Finding New Capital, New Markets
To say the start-up scene in Arkansas is exploding might be an understatement.
The City Wire profiles several start-up companies in Arkansas that have raised serious capital in recent weeks.
PicaSolar, which advances solar energy technology, has raised more than $1 million in new funding. Overwatch, a mobile phone app for paintball and air gun games, has stretched its $450,000 in start-up funding and is currently pursuing another $300,000 in venture capital.
Overwatch CEO Josh Moody is profiled in the latest magazine edition of Talk Business Arkansas. His profile will appear later this week online.
Also, SFC Fluidics closed a $2 million, Series B investment round that will help it commercialize a new disposable insulin patch pump. SFC Fluidics is a Fayetteville-based medical device and diagnostics company.
Oh Baby Foods, which Talk Business profiled in December, has also made a major breakthrough. The all-natural baby food company has scored a contract with Whole Foods, which is expected to grow sales and market share.
