Rutledge Picks Up Nation Endorsement For Attorney General (UPDATED)
Leslie Rutledge, who led the Republican ticket on Primary Election Night in the GOP Attorney General’s race, received the endorsement of third-place finisher Patricia Nation on Friday (May 23).
The two candidates held a joint press conference on Friday morning at 10 a.m. at the Lafayette Hotel in downtown Little Rock.
Rutledge earned 47.3% of the vote in Tuesday’s primary, while second-place finisher David Sterling trailed with 39%. Nation received roughly 13.7% of the vote to round out the three-person GOP field.
Rutledge and Sterling will square off on June 10th in a run-off election to face Democratic nominee Nate Steel and Libertarian Aaron Cash. The race is the first statewide Republican run-off in modern history.
Rutledge has also noted her candidacy could have other historical implications. Arkansas has never elected a Republican Attorney General, nor has it elected a female Attorney General.
