Arkansas’ economic development agency has launched a new web site to capitalize on well-known state business and political leaders.

The new Arkansas Economic Development Commission website — ArkansasFavorsTheBold.com — highlights early Arkansas entrepreneurs such as Sam Walton, Don Tyson, Bill Dillard, J.B. Hunt, the Stephens brothers as well as former President Bill Clinton in a short video promoting the state’s business climate.

“Arkansas has got an amazingly vibrant entrepreneurial history,” said AEDC executive director Grant Tennille. “As well-known as Wal-Mart and Tyson Foods are across the world, it’s been our experience that people don’t connect their stories and other entrepreneurial success back to Arkansas.”

The web site encourages interested businesses to consider coming to Arkansas if they “have an idea” to launch. Tennille said he hopes the web site and surrounding marketing efforts will help recruit more entrepreneurs to the state, like the business legends touted in the web site’s video.

“It’s past time, to drive that point home. We are telling people if you have a small business or want to start a small business, Arkansas is the place to do it. We have a proven track record of success here,” he said. “You can come here and be a big fish in a small pond.”

The web site is intended to be a “first introduction” to what the state has to offer. There is also a print campaign, international online campaign, in-depth paid search effort, and other marketing components.
