Sen. Boozman Has Emergency Heart Surgery (UPDATED)
U.S. Sen. John Boozman underwent emergency heart surgery Tuesday morning (April 22) after experiencing pain in his chest and arm, his office said.
Boozman, 63, was taken to the hospital overnight. After running several tests, doctors admitted Boozman and performed heart surgery today.
Doctors say he responded well to the surgery and are monitoring his recovery, according to his office.
“Boozman’s family has visited with him and are hopeful for a full recovery. The family is appreciative of the thoughts and prayers from well-wishers,” a statement from Boozman’s office said.
His office said it would continue to provide updates on his condition and asked that all inquiries be directed to his official office in order to “respect the family’s privacy at this time.”
