Fayetteville-chartered Arvest Bank announced March 27 that Fayetteville native Payne Brewer has joined the lender’s Benton County market as senior vice president and commercial banker.

Brewer had worked at Arvest Bank in Fayetteville since 1997 as senior vice president and later executive vice president and loan manager.

Arvest Bank operates more than 260 bank branches in four states, through a network of 16 locally managed banks, each with its own board and management team.

In Benton County, Brewer will work from the Village on the Creeks location in Rogers.

“Payne is a benefit to the Arvest team wherever he works,” Mark Ryan, Arvest Benton County commercial loan manager, said in a press release. “His banking experience and knowledge is a treasure both to us and to Arvest Bank customers.”

Brewer, a member of the Northwest Arkansas Business Journal’s inaugural Forty Under 40 class in 1997, began his banking career in 1984 with Merchants National Bank in Fort Smith, moved to First National Bank of Fayetteville in 1988 and continued with successor banks — Worthen National Bank and Boatmen’s National Bank — until joining Arvest.

Brewer graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1984 and has completed Arkansas Bankers Association Lending School at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, American Bankers Association Commercial Lending School at the University of Oklahoma and the School of Banking of the South at Louisiana State University.
