Earth Day Activities at Hobbs State Park

Earth Day is an annual event where family-centered activities are held worldwide to demonstrate support for environmental protection. It was first celebrated in 1970, and is now coordinated globally by the Earth Day Network and celebrated in more than 192 countries each year.

Like Earth Days of the past, Earth Day 2014 will focus on the unique environmental challenges of our time. As the world’s population migrates to cities, and as the bleak reality of climate change becomes increasingly clear, the need to create sustainable communities is more important than ever. Earth Day 2014 will seek to do just that through its global theme: Green Cities.

 Hobbs State Park – Conservation Area celebrates Earth Day by encouraging families to enjoy the out of doors, by bringing Mother Nature’s feathered friends into the classroom, and to explain how each of us can help Mother Nature by building backyard habitats.
    

Earth Day activities at Hobbs State Park – Conservation Area include:
9-11 a.m. – Birds & Breakfast at the visitor center (FREE)

10:30 a.m. – Mother Nature Reads in the visitor center (FREE)

11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.  Good Steward Hike at Bashore Ridge Trail (FREE)

2 p.m. – Friends of Hobbs Speaker Terri Lane, “Building Backyard Habitats” (FREE)         

2 p.m. – Earth Day Cruise on Beaver Lake (Fee)
