Cook: Out-of-touch Koch Brothers Attack Mike Ross’s Pre-K Plan

If you observe politics long enough, you’ll eventually see or hear just about everything and it takes a lot to surprise you.

However on Wednesday when the Koch Brothers lead staffer in Arkansas attacked a plan to provide all four year-old kids access to Pre-K, even I was taken aback. His attack on increasing access to Pre-K highlighted another reason why right-wing candidates in Arkansas are struggling to win over women voters.

On Wednesday, likely Democratic gubernatorial nominee Mike Ross unveiled his plan to provide quality Pre-K to of all Arkansas’s children. Read Talk Business’ story for the full details. It’s a solid plan that will work.

Later that day, Jason Cline, executive director for the Koch Brothers here in Arkansas, posted the following Tweet about Ross’s Pre-K plan.

Are you kidding me?  Even Asa Hutchinson supports the concept of increasing funding for Pre-K programs.

I guess, based on Cline’s convoluted logic, Asa thinks parents are the problem and he too wants to get kids away from them sooner?  To be true, Asa’s disagreement over Ross’ plan is over how it will be funded, a valid debate point when discussing the state budget.

Cline’s tweet against Pre-K is a shining example of why right-wingers are struggling with women voters. I’d bet big bucks if you polled the idea of increasing Pre-K access, it would poll extremely well among women voters. Heck, I bet among male voters it would also poll well.

Technically, Cline, who just moved to Arkansas from up north last year, works for Americans for Prosperity, but frankly it’s a front group to hide the tens of millions of dollars the Koch Brothers funnel through it.

The Koch Brothers are all for tax breaks for millionaires, but a voluntary Pre-K program for kids as a long-term investment in Arkansas’s future? No way.

Studies prove Pre-K makes a dramatic positive difference in the course of children’s lives.  But right-wingers often point to a bogus study on how Pre-K doesn’t work. However, read this article that brilliantly rips apart the study in question.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. It’s not Bubba who is gonna decide this election. It’s gonna be Bubba’s mama, wife, daughter and granddaughter who will pick the next Governor and U.S. Senator. If Republicans keep doing things like attacking Pre-K programs, they’re going to make Democrats’ jobs easier this November.
