Walmart Announces New Supercenter for Centerton
Wal-Mart Stores Inc. announced Wednesday it will build a new Supercenter in Centerton. It will create approximately 300 new jobs and open in the summer of 2015.
The location is at the corner of Centerton Boulevard and South Fish Hatchery Road.
“We are excited to see Walmart continue to play a part in the growth of our community” Centerton Mayor Bill Edwards said in a press release. “This new development will continue to improve the quality of life for our citizens and broaden our tax base.”
According to a news release, Walmart employs nearly 49,000 people at its 107 Arkansas locations, with an average wage for regular, full-time hourly associates in Arkansas of $12.16 per hour.
Additionally, Walmart spent more than $11.5 billion for merchandise and services with suppliers in Arkansas last year alone. As a result, the company supports an additional 52,107 supplier jobs in the state.
