Little Rock To Launch 1 Million Cups Entrepreneur Program
Little Rock will host 1 Million Cups, a program to “engage, educate and connect” entrepreneurs on April 16.
1 Million Cups is a weekly gathering that is building startup communities over cups of coffee and conversation across the country. The program began in April 2012 in Kansas City, the hometown of its founding organization, Kauffman Labs for Enterprise Creation at the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation. With the launch in Little Rock, 1 Million Cups has expanded to its network to 33 U.S. cities and accomplished the growth goal Kauffman program leaders set for 2014.
“We’re extremely thrilled to partner with the Kauffman Foundation to bring 1 Million Cups to central Arkansas,” said Mike Steely, who runs the Arkansas Venture Center and Startup Arkansas. “This program is a great opportunity for Central Arkansas’ entrepreneurs to let others know what is happening in their area and support each other.”
The program’s model is consistent in each location. Each Wednesday morning, two founders present their companies to an audience of mentors, advisers and other entrepreneurs. Each founder presents for six minutes and then fields audience questions for another 20 minutes.
Beginning April 16th, the Arkansas Venture Center will host Central Arkansas entrepreneurs, innovators, founders and other interested community members at 9 a.m. each Wednesday at the Little Rock Regional Chamber of Commerce.
